Patience Will See Us Through
Everything that happens to humankind acts like a current that passes through us, affecting our personalities. Some currents help us to shore, while others carry us out to sea. Our challenge is to swim with them all. You may seek to escape from disliked circumstances, but usually, in the course of fleeing, you will come up against an even more formidable challenge. We have a saying: “He fled from the rain to the hail.” You may confirm the truth of this saying from your own experience.
We will grow in spiritual forbearance by being patient with the harm inflicted by others. If we react to every provocation, we will only be burned up with rage and will have gained nothing in the process. You need to keep a cool head, not clouded by impulsive anger, to hold steady: This is what all spiritual guides throughout the ages have taught us.
