Al-Majid
The Majestic
Exalted and Glorious
They said, “Do you wonder at the Decree of Allah? The Mercy of Allah and His Blessings be upon you, Oh the family of Ibrahim. Surely Allah is All-Praiseworthy, All-Glorious.” (11:73)
Owner of the throne, the Glorious. (85:15)
This name of the 99 Names of Allah clearly reveals honor, rank, dignity, glory, nobility, eminence, and excellence. It is also used as an affix to the Holy Qur’an.
He who repeats this name will live in this world honorably.
Al-Majid is the Generous One. The clear victory, in the end, is in Him, the Manifold in excellence, the Abundant Giver, the Mighty Creator. So praise be to Allah for His favor, for He is the most Generous One to His servants.

Al-Majid It is He, the Glorious, Who has the most perfect attainment and beautiful seclusion. He is the Description of all descriptions and actions, which His servants perform in seeking refuge in His Mercy. So let us increase our yearning for Allah, and perfect ourselves for Him in all His Orders.

He is the Most Majestic and Glorious. Allah Most High is glorious and majestic in the whole of His creation and beyond. No hand reaches Him, no power can touch Him, yet He is closer to His servants than their own souls. He has love and compassion for them that is far greater than their own care for themselves. His bounties are infinite; there is no end to His Mercy. His state is pure perfection and His acts are pure wisdom.
In the meaning of Al-Majid, there are two elements. One is His majesty, His power, which keeps Him above and beyond any attempt to reach Him, and for which He is respected and feared. The other is His glory and honor as shown in His beautiful actions and states, for which He is praised and loved.
It behooves good servants, in consideration of the glory and honor of our Lord, to be sincere, serious, and pure in our devotions to Him as well as in all our doings thereby seeking His pleasure. A servant should recoil from arrogance, hypocrisy, and lies. Those who realize the majesty and the honor of their Lord, who are faithful, and who join Him, seeking only His pleasure, receive strength and honor themselves.
‘Abd al-Majid is the one whose character and morals are perfected. Such persons are honored among people and the rest of creation because of their beautiful behavior toward them. They are virtuous through the virtues of Allah.
If a believer of good character who has contracted psoriasis fasts during the 13th, 14th, and 15th of the lunar months, and at fast-break recites ya Majid 100 times, it has been known to help the sickness. This regimen also assists in cases of heart disease and depression.
Allah is the Most Glorious, who shows infinite generosity and munificence to those close to Him. For example, He gives us much more than we need, as well as the gift of good character and good conduct, enabling us to do good deeds. But if we are miserly in sharing that which we have received, He abandons us. If we are generous, He loves us and glorifies us for the character He has given, and rewards us by forgiving our sins and our errors. He hides our sins and errors from others and even from ourselves. He accepts our excuses; He protects our rights. He relieves our difficulties. He prepares the causes for our peace, happiness, and salvation. The servant, remembering the munificence of the Glorious One, should love Him and obey His orders with joy, and fear Him through loving Him, fearing to lose the favor of the Beloved One.
‘Abd ad-Majid is the one who is praised and honored by Allah and given the strength to carry the responsibility of this honor.
The believer who recites this Name 465 times during the day and 465 times during the night has his words understood by others as he meant them to be understood. His character improves. He is loved and respected. He may even understand the language of the beasts and plants, and they may understand him.
