31. YA KHABIR

Al-Khabir
The Aware

Exalted and Glorious

When they have fulfilled their term, there is no sin on you if they (the wives) dispose of themselves in a just and honorable manner.  Allah is well acquainted with what you do.  (2:234)
There did Allah give you one distress after another by way of requital to teach you not to grieve for that which had escaped you, nor for that which had befallen you.  And Allah is Well-Aware of all that you do.  (3:153)
He is the Irresistible, above His servants; and He is the All-Wise, Well-Acquainted with all things.  (6:18)
His will be the dominion the day when the trumpet will be blown.  All-Knower of the unseen and the seen.  He is the All-Wise, Well-Aware of all things.  (6:73)
And remember that which is recited in your houses of the verses of Allah and His Wisdom.  Verily, Allah is Ever More Courteous, Well-Acquainted with all things.  (33:34)

This name, Al-Khabir, is an attribute of Allah, for He is the Omniscient Who knows, witnesses, and sees all things and is aware of all conditions anywhere. He who has a bad habit and wants to get rid of it, if he repeats this name continuously, will be quickly freed from this habit by the grace of Allah.

Al-Khabir is the One Who has knowledge of the details of matters.  Nothing is hidden from Him, and nothing is absent from His knowledge of everything that has been, and everything that will be.  So be careful with everything that you say and do.

From: The Meanings of the Names of Our Lord, by Shaykh Muhammad Sa’id al-Jamal ar-Rifa’i Head of the Higher Sufi Council in Jerusalem and the Holy Land Teacher at the Dome of the Rock (al-Aqsa)

*********

He is the one who is aware of the hidden inner occurrences in everything. He is the one whose cognizance reaches the deepest, darkest, hidden corners of His kingdom, where neither human intelligence nor His angels can penetrate.  Everywhere in the universe, an infinite number of things are happening, some universal, some minute, over and under, inside and outside each other. He is aware of all these from their very beginning until their end, in infinite detail.  Occurrences that are not yet actualized, but are in a state of formation, or are being planned, or are hidden, like secrets within secrets, are manifest to Him.  None can escape His attention.

Know that there is nothing that you do in secret or think of doing that is not known by al-Khabir.  Know also that your most secret needs and wishes for which you have not asked in prayer are known to Him and are often accorded to you without your asking.

‘Abd al-Khabir is blessed with total understanding.  Such a one has been made aware of the conditions and consequences of events, as well as their nature.  The prerequisite of this gift is to know oneself; to be one’s own doctor.  First, we must diagnose the sicknesses of arrogance, hypocrisy, envy, selfishness, anger, excessive love of the world, and other negativities which we all have.  Then we must make a great effort to cure them.

If one is afflicted with certain bad traits of character and is sincerely ashamed and wants to get rid of them, it helps to recite ya Khabir as often as one can.  If a faithful person is worried about the outcome of an action, he will be shown the result of his action in his dreams if he recites the verse a-la ya’lamu man khalaq, wa huwal-Latif ul-Khabir many times till he falls asleep at night.

Does the one who created not know?  And he is the Gentle, the Aware (surah Mulk 14)
