Shaykh Burhanuddin Herrmann

what si the dhikr

Shaykh Burhanuddin Herrmann is a thoroughly modern mystic of ancient tradition, called onto the Sufi path at a tender age.

He went through the classic dervish training, which means to keep an intense daily practice of meditation and prayers under a direct guidance, to create a family, to accept the instructions of your Master for your inner and outer life, to go through spiritual extreme retreats in solitude, to be assigned journeys and to be put in your daily life under challenging tests regularly.

He received direct transmission of the Naqshbandi Sufi Order, one of the most ancient and authoritative of the forty existing Sufi Orders, known variously through the ages as the ‘School of the Masters of Wisdom’, the ‘Scientists of the Soul’, and the ‘Path of Love’.

Shaykh Burhanuddin when he was 18 years old he invited to his home town in Germany the Grand Master and the world guide of the Naqshbandi order, Maulana Shaykh Nazim al Haqqani ar Rabbani, may his secret be sanctified. When he saw him the first time he fainted in the middle of the street. Meeting a man who has gone beyond fears and live in the freedom of love is an unforgettable and life-changing experience.

Henceforth he was constantly at his beloved Master’s side for thirty-five years, accompanying him around the world spreading the particular Sufi touch of grace and love.

As a wandering dervish, a radical lover of the Divine and an appointed shaykh (spiritual guide), Shaykh Burhanuddin was trained to develop an eye to detect the expressions of Beauty in Life, whatever shape they may take. He was taught that the love and the respect towards the Creator, through the Creation, and His Creatures is what we are called to practice on this Earth in order to become human beings.

He was taught gratitude for everything that he had and that he had not.
Maulana replaced in him the feeling of the need to strife in life, with an unshakable joyful faith that everything, good or bad is coming from the same Loving Source, and that it carries a message and a teaching for your own evolution.

He finally provided Shaykh Burhanuddin with the means and the drive to carry out a life-changing self-awareness Method in a modern and universal key, beyond any belief or requirements.

His invitation is to come and to have a taste of his Work, because the experience is your truth.
Truth cannot be taught or believed in, only lived.
This is the main point of Sufism: it favours the experiences to be lived instead of the dogmas to believe in. Once you see truth, you do not need any more to believe, because now you see and you know.

The first evident side effect of applying the Method is that you become happier. Because you will have the certainty that you are never alone, you are all the time watched, cared and beloved. The self-observation work brings this magic.
You will see that everything around you is arranged perfectly for you in order to reach success and your highest destination.
Have trust and be happy about this truth.
Your happiness is the revolution you are looking for.

Shaykh Burhanuddin since thirty years is leading spiritual growth meetings and retreats all over the world, at the service of people’s spiritual needs. His simple and revolutionary Method aims to awaken people to the real meaning and purpose of their lives, to remind them their highest origin and destination and to help them to live a life of the heart, in peace, happiness, creativity and gratefulness.

Shaykh Burhanuddin is the author of three books: ‘Il Cammello Sul Tetto’ (The Camel On The Roof), ‘Il Derviscio Metropolitano’ (The Metropolitan Dervish) and ‘Il Sufismo’ (Sufism). He is also a musician and the funder of the Dervish Orchestra (
